Why use Bamboo?
You may be thinking of hard bamboo that is used for construction or landscaping but bamboo fabric is absolutely beautiful to touch and has been likened to cashmere. Here are some of the reasons why we chose to use bamboo:
The environment
Bamboo is an extremely eco-friendly material. It grows naturally without the need for chemical pesticides or fertilizers making it ideal for bubs sensitive skin and the environment. Bamboo has a very short growth cycle and can reach a mature height in just 45 to 60 days. It is easily cultivated and can be harvested over and over again and it will keep on growing and growing. It produces around 4 to 6 new shoots per year by regenerating naturally through it's extensive root system.
Absorption
Bamboo has natural wicking properties meaning it absorbs and evaporates moisture very quickly making it ideal for absorbing dribble! In fact it is 60% more absorbent than cotton. The more times it is washed the more absorbent it becomes reaching maximum absorbency after 10 washes.
Best for Bubs
It is naturally antibacterial and even after 50 washes has a 70% elimination rate when incubated with bacteria. It also does not hold onto odour. Bamboo is a natural fibre which means it is also hypoallergenic. This results in decreased tendency to cause allergies. Not only does it have all these wonderful properties but it is beautiful to touch making it extremely comfortable for bubs to wear. | |
